"So Odori", a dance of about 20,000 people together, is spectacular

This event sees throngs of citizens make a stage of Toyohashi, the birthplace of "Eejanaika", a carnival-like dance phenomenon that swept through Japan at the end of Edo period. The festival features many highlights; Eejanaika Toyohashi PareCa, which fuses together a parade and a carnival; Eejanaika Dance Zanmai, a dance festival with various performances; the children's art paradise, etc.. Above all, "So Odori", a dance of about 20,000 people in unison on the streets of Ekimae-odori, Hirokoji-dori and Kayamachi-dori, sweeps the entire length of the town with cheers and feverish excitement. Stalls where you can taste local delicacies are also a popular feature of this festival.
