Feel the coming of autumn through Jiro persimmons, a Toyohashi fruit of renown

Persimmons are nutritious fruits which contain plenty of vitamin C, vitamin B and potassium. People have been eating them since ancient times as a fruity panacea which will keep the doctor away. Among all the different kinds of persimmons out there, Jiro persimmons are distinguished by their square shape, hard texture and relatively small amount of juice. Toyohashi City boasts the highest production of these persimmons in all of Japan. Of course, eating the persimmons just as they are is a great way to enjoy the taste of autumn, but there are also other processed products to try like dried persimmon with the concentrated taste of Jiro persimmons, and fried chips.
Best season Jiro Persimmons: End of October to mid November
