[Atera-no-Nanataki Waterfall]

A beautiful waterfall comprised of seven falls cascading down from about 62 m high

Water from the Suyama Highlands falls gracefully down the seven steps of conglomerate fault scarp. The waterfall is of academic value in that it falls from a conglomerate rock, and legend has it that this conglomerate, known as the "Kodaki-ishi", blesses people with babies. The waterfall has been nationally designated as a place of scenic beauty and a natural monument, and was selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. It attracts crowds of people in spring while the leaves are a lush green, and in autumn when they change color. It is said that the exorcist Abe-no-Seimei carried out his ascetic training here when he was young.

Access Take the JR Iida Line from "Toyohashi Station" of JR Tokaido Shinkansen for approx. 65 minutes, alight at "Mikawa-Ono Station". Take the Shinshiro S-Bus Akiba-Nanataki Line for approx. 15 minutes, alight at "Nanatakiguchi" and walk for approx. 15 minutes.
