See, touch and try the techniques of a traditional craft of Edo

Edo kiriko is a traditional craft which uses thin, vividly colored glass with Japanese-style patterns that are also seen on kimonos, like chrysanthemums and flax leaves. While also a glass craft, Satsuma kiriko from Kagoshima was an art craft which was carefully protected as a local government business. Edo kiriko on the other hand came about through the lives of ordinary people. From traditional to modern, there is a vast array of tableware with beautiful designs featuring delicate cutting. Why not try this traditional craft for yourself? Visitors can enjoy making their own Edo kiriko glass in workshops. (Reservation and additional fee required.)
