Tokyo Station, Shinagawa Station
[Sakura avenue by the Meguro River]
A hanami walk through a tunnel of sakura
The best way to enjoy hanami around the Meguro River is to stroll along the rows of sakura there. Eight hundred or so somei-yoshino cherry trees are planted along both sides of the Meguro River, stretching roughly four kilometers from the large bridge near Ikejiri Ohashi Station all the way to Fudomae and Meguro Station. The rows of towering trees create a magnificent tunnel of cherry blossoms over the water. Hanami by night with the bombori lanterns glittering on the river surface is truly enchanting. During the flowering period, events are held and the trees are illuminated at night.
