[Ryogochi Tea (Houkouen)]

Lightly steamed tea grown on a mountain overlooking Mt. Fuji across sea of clouds

Tea fields spread across steep hills surrounded by mountains in all four directions. Okitsu River flowing in the foothills creates the sea of clouds, which softens the ever shining sunlight, nurturing the wonderfully aromatic and delicate tasting Ryogochi tea. Ryogochi tea cannot be cultivated through more efficient methods and therefore is produced in scarce quantities, earning the area a magical reputation. The tea leaves are as straight as needles, expressing both the high quality of the raw materials themselves and also the skill of the producers. The teas produced here are characterized by an aroma and distinct flavor which can only be obtained in a lightly steamed tea.
