[Ryogochi Tea (Houkouen)]

A fragrant, lightly steamed tea produced in a secluded land of fine teas

Delicately flavored Ryogochi tea is produced in tea fields which spread across steep slopes, surrounded on all sides by mountains, watered by rain and bathed in sunlight. Among the Ryogochi teas, the premium tea "Takane no Hana" has for many long years commanded a high price in the Shizuoka tea market's first trades in new teas of the season. So very little of it is produced that it is also sometimes called "the phantom tea". The tea leaves are as straight as needles, expressing both the high quality of the raw materials themselves and also the skill of the producers. The teas produced here feature a superior aroma which can only be obtained in a lightly steamed tea.
