Shizuoka Station

[Shizuoka Municipal Nihondaira Zoo]

Enjoy a closer look at the ecology of animals

The habitats of animals are recreated at Nihondaira Zoo according to their ecological environments. So for example, polar bears play freely underwater through the glass tunnel; spotted seals swim freely in their cylindrical aquarium; and red pandas run about in their three-dimensional living environment. You can see all this from incredibly close range. Visitors are fascinated by the appearance of the animals such as powerful Siberian tigers, penguins swimming underwater at high speed, the size of polar bears, and much more.
