Try your hand at a traditional craft, and feel like a craftsman
Sunpu Takumishuku is a facility which introduces traditional crafts which have been handed down in Shizuoka since olden times, like "Suruga takesensuji-zaiku" (a bamboo craft) and "Suruga wazome" (dyeing cloth and the like). The workshops which give visitors the chance to try a craft for themselves are particularly popular, and there is a diverse and unique menu of experiences which let people get into the craftsman mood and try their hand at things like making bamboo bug cages, dyeing handkerchiefs with indigo, putting the cords on getas (Japanese clogs) and making wooden toys. A simple piece of bamboo handicraft will take around 30 minutes to finish, and is something which children and adults alike can enjoy making.
