Enjoy art and tea with an elegant mood in a space of beauty

Lalique Museum Hakone is home to 1,500 works by René Lalique (1860-1945), who started out as a jewelry designer, and then became a highly successful glass artist. With a range of exhibits that includes jewelry, glass work, and interior decoration, the museum has over 200 pieces on display, enchanting visitors with the beautiful world of Art Nouveau and Art Déco—styles that were popular in the 19th century and on into the 20th. On the museum grounds, there is a café-restaurant facing onto a courtyard filled with green, and a café made out of an Orient Express train car, for which Lalique designed the interior (same-day reservation required). Why not spend an elegant time in a space decorated with delicate yet dynamic adornments created by René Lalique?
