Hakone Tozan Train | Japan Highlights Travel, for sightseeing around Tokaido

Odawara Station

[Hakone Tozan Train]

A mountain train zigzagging up the steep slope, one of the attractions of Hakone.

The red railway vehicles climb up the steep slope with three switchbacks between Odawara at 14 meters above sea level and Gora at 541 meters above sea level. The driver and conductor swap positions at each switchback in one of the special scenes during this train ride. The beautiful scenery from the window changing with the seasons is also charming. The hydrangea along the railroad line blooming from mid June to mid July are hugely popular. How about leisurely enjoying a train trip with beautiful hydrangeas blooming just outside the window and close enough to touch? Deyama Tekkyo (or officially Hayama Bridge) in the mountains is another one of the must-see spots along the train line.
