[1260 Ashinoko Matsuri Week]

A 6-day festival enlivened with traditional rituals, fireworks and more

"1260 Ashinoko Matsuri Week" starts with spectacular fireworks and lasts for 6 days, including various rituals and events. There are various rituals that have been passed down from ancient times around Lake Ashinoko, and the festival week started as an initiative to encourage more people to enjoy them. During the week, various events are held, including the annual festival of Hakone-jinja Shrine that will celebrate its 1,260th anniversary of enshrinement in 2017; "Kosui Festival", which is a ritual of Kuzuryu Okami, the guardian deity of Lake Ashinoko; "Kojiri Ryujin Festival"; and on the last day, "Torii-yaki Festival", in which a structure modeled on a Torii is burnt. A fireworks festival is also held every night. The calm surface of the lake reflects the colorful light, and the fantastic mood fascinates the spectators.
