[1262 Ashinoko Matsuri Week]

A 7-day festival enlivened with traditional rituals, fireworks and more

"1262 Ashinoko Matsuri Week" starts with spectacular fireworks and lasts for 7 days, including various rituals and events. There are various rituals that have been passed down from ancient times around Lake Ashinoko, and the festival week started as an initiative to encourage more people to enjoy them. Various events will be held throughout the week. The 2019 Reitai Festival at Hakone-jinja Shrine will celebrate the 1,262nd anniversary of the enshrinement of its resident kami. The Kosui Festival and Kojiri Ryujin Festival are held in honor of Kuzuryu Okami, the guardian deity of Lake Ashinoko. In the Torii-Yaki Festival, a fake wooden torii is burned. A fireworks festival is also held every night. The calm surface of the lake reflects the colorful light, and the fantastic mood fascinates the spectators.
