A park with a variety of attractions at the foot of a giant Buddha statue
Shurakuen Park is home to a giant Buddha statue that stands 18.79 meters tall, a symbol of Tokai City. Located within Shiawasemura—a facility to promote mental and physical health that also contains a Health and Welfare Center and Kenko Fureai Koryukan—the park is an oasis for the people of Tokai City. The Great Buddha was built by Saikichi Yamada, a successful local businessman, in commemoration of the wedding of Emperor Hirohito. In the fall, about 550 Japanese maples of seven types and various sizes surround the Great Buddha with brilliant autumn colors—a spectacular sight. The park even has a spa with a heated pool and 14 different kinds of baths, and is also home to a tea ceremony house, Omeian, where you can enjoy a nice cup of green tea and take a break while admiring the garden. Spend a relaxing time surrounded by nature that is beautiful in every season.
The Autumn Leaves Festival is held from mid- to late November. During the festival, tea ceremonies are held and food stalls appear
