[Sanko Inari Jinja Shrine]
A Shinto shrine at the foot of Inuyama Castle, famous for cute, heart-shaped wooden wishing plaques
When you spot red torii gates near the south castle entrance at the foot of Inuyama Castle, that’s Sanko Inari Jinja Shrine. This shrine is accompanied by Sarutahiko Jinja Shrine, which enshrines Sarutahiko, who is worshiped as a god of good luck; Himeki Jinja Shrine, which brings good fortune for finding a good partner and happiness in the home; and Zeniarai Inari Jinja Shrine, at which, if you purify your money with the divine water, you will receive divine blessings. The shrine also enshrines Kijoro-kami, who listens to women and grants their wishes. Each god listens to different wishes. The pink, heart-shaped wooden plaques offered at this shrine are highly popular. Hundreds of them are hung lining the stands, a sight so impressive, visitors can’t help taking photos of them. This shrine is a must-visit when you come to Inuyama Castle for sightseeing.
