[Sendohira Lock]

A historic structure connecting the Kiso and Nagara, two rivers with different water levels

A device that modulates the water levels of two rivers is called a "lock". Sendohira Lock, called "Aichi's little Panama", is a historic structure that was built in the Meiji period in order to allow boats to travel between the Kiso and Nagara rivers. It still functions today. Surrounding the lock is Sendohira River Park, popular as a famous spot to see sakura and for its beautiful flowers in every season. The Kiso River Tour Boat (reservation and fee required), which lets you experience the difference in water levels between the Kiso and Nagara rivers at this Sendohira Lock, is operated from late March to mid-November every year.
Posted photos Visitors can pass through the Sendohira Lock on the seasonally-operated Kiso River Tour Boat (reservation and fee required)
