Aichi's oldest lighthouse, a popular spot for lovers

This symbol of the town of Mihama is known officially as the Noma Cape Lighthouse. Built in 1921, this lighthouse is Aichi's oldest and stands approx. 18 meters tall. In 2008, it was repaired and renovated to be more energy-efficient and disaster-resistant. Aside from gaining popularity with its classic lighthouse design, it has also gained attention as a mecca for lovers; word has spread that those who put padlocks, representing bonds of eternal love, on the "Tones of Bonds" monument and ring the "Bell of Bonds" will achieve happiness. (Padlocks are sold at nearby establishment "Shoku to Kenkou no Yakata".)
