[Tenmusu (Jiraiya Nagoya Honten)]

A bite-size Nagoya specialty, which tastes good even after it has cooled down

Tenmusu is known as a Nagoya specialty today, although it originated from somewhere else. It is a bite-size rice ball with fresh shrimp tempura inside rice that is still tasty even when it gets cold, all wrapped up in a savory sheet of dried seaweed. The tempura with its seasoned batter goes well with the rice and stimulates your appetite. It comes with "kyarabuki", butterbur stalks cooked in soy sauce, which are an essential accompaniment to tenmusu. Jiraiya offers tenmusu made with black rice or rice mixed with mustard leaf pickle, and lunch boxes that include side dishes, as well as the traditional tenmusu made with white rice. They are popular for picnics or as gifts to bring to a friend.
