[Asuke Castle]

A faithful replica of a mountain castle of the Sengoku period, with a magnificent view

This mountain castle was reconstructed on the basis of an excavation in 1993. It was the first full reconstruction of a Sengoku castle in Japan. The reconstruction was made with authentic materials that were used back in the day, such as bamboo nails and hemp ropes. With a simple honmaru (castle keep), longhouses, watchtowers, and other features, the castle represents the earliest form of a Japanese castle, and will waken your adventurer's spirit for history. The honmaru overlooks the Asuke Townscape, and the Takayagura turret houses a room for the lord of the castle, living quarters, a hall, and more. They are all open to visitors.
