[Anjo Sakura Matsuri]

A spring festival at a famous sakura spot, and the beauty of sakura by lantern light

The around 200 somei-yoshino sakura trees in Anjo Park come into flower in spring. There's nothing like strolling along the walking trail around the pond while enjoying these beautiful trees. The sight of sakura reflected on the surface of the water from the island in the pond is a must-see. This hanami spot is very popular for family outings, and also has a zoo specializing in small animals. The "Anjo Sakura Matsuri" event also incorporates "Hinode Park" ("Sunrise Park") and "Shiroyama Park" ("Castle Mountain Park"), and so encompasses four famous sakura spots. As night falls, traditional paper lanterns called "bombori" are lit, and it's time to enjoy "yozakura" ("night sakura").
