Tea-making that invites you to feel the spirit of Ujicha

A workshop on the distinguished, high-class Ujicha tea by the banks of the Uji River, a picturesque place great for a stroll. There is a course on making powdered green tea using a stone mill, which involves stone-grinding the raw material of matcha called tencha, brewing it, and tasting it; a course on making roasted green tea on a ceramic plate; and a hands-on experience of making your own Asahi ware. (See below for reservation details. / Paid.) You will be able to encounter the diverse cultures of tea. Within the facility, there is a tea shop where you can purchase Ujicha, a tea room in which to enjoy sweets and meals made using Ujicha, and a museum where you can learn about the tea manufacturing process, etc. It is also be a good idea to visit the Byodo-in Temple in the neighborhood. Enjoy a quaint moment unique to Uji.
