A museum which, since it first opened its doors in 2006, has come to be visited by large numbers of people from all over Japan, and beyond. Built on the site of an abolished elementary school, within its spacious grounds this museum gives visitors the chance to immerse themselves fully in the world of manga. As well as popular modern works, the museum also preserves and exhibits precious materials like caricature-like ukiyo-e from the Edo period, magazines from the Meiji period and comic books from all over the world. Among the museum's highlights is "The Wall of Manga", an entire wall lined with approximately 50,000 manga comics which visitors are free to peruse. The museum takes visitors beyond differences of culture and language, and is a place people of all generations can enjoy.

Access Take the Karasuma Line of Kyoto municipal subway from "Kyoto Station" of JR Tokaido Shinkansen for approx. 6 minutes, alight at "Karasuma Oike Station" and walk for approx. 2 minutes.
