[Totomi Province Ichinomiya Okuni Jinja]

A Shinto shrine surrounded by the deep green of ancient trees, with Japanese maples lining the path

Located near the clear water of Miyagawa River and nestled among the deep green of ancient trees, Okuni Jinja enshrines the guardian deity of Totomi Province. Also known as a shrine where your wishes will come true just the way you wanted, it is worshipped at by many as a place that brings luck in matchmaking, wards off evil, and grants earnest wishes. Flowing through the shrine from the foothills of Mt. Hongu, the Miyagawa River is lined by some 1,000 Japanese maple trees—big and small—and the autumn foliage and clear stream create fascinating scenery in the fall. The beautiful seasonal flowers, such as cherry blossoms in spring and irises in early summer, are also a must-see.
