[Tea Museum, Shizuoka]

A museum where you can learn about tea of all kinds and flavors

This tea museum is located on the Makinohara Plateau, which is famous as a major tea-producing region. Established in 2018 as a new base for spreading the wonders of tea in Shizuoka Prefecture, it consists of a museum, a tea ceremony house, and a garden, as well as a shop and a restaurant. In the museum, you can learn about tea around the world, as well as Shizuoka’s traditional tea-grass integrated system, a designated Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. There are also plenty of hands-on experiences to enjoy—matcha grinding, tea ceremony in an authentic tea ceremony house, a workshop where you can blend your own original tea, and more. Naturally, the museum's cafe-restaurant, Maruobara, offers tea galore, as does the museum shop. Take your time exploring the museum, and discover wonders and flavors of tea that you never knew before.
