[Nakatajima Sand Dunes]

One of the largest sand dunes with beautiful wind ripples

Nakatajima is one of the three largest sand dunes in Japan extending 4 km from east to west and 600 m from north to south. On a windy day, nature creates a piece of art with the wind and sand, and draws intricate wind ripples on the sand. The moment-to-moment transforming scenery will fascinate you. As you move beyond the sand dunes, the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean appears before you. The spectacular "Hamamatsu Festival", where hundreds of kites dance in the sky, is held in May.
