[Hirizo Beach]

A fish's paradise that can only be reached by boat in summer

Located at the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula, Hirizo Beach is surrounded by steep cliffs. This beautiful beach can only be reached by boat, and even then only during the 3-or-so months of summer. It used to be a spot off the beaten path where "those in the know" would go to for a swim in the ocean. In recent years, however, word has spread about it online, and it has become so popular that only a limited number of beachgoers are allowed in. Hirizo Beach's greatest attraction is its crystal-clear water. The clear, blue ocean will soothe you and move you. In addition, the Kuroshio Current passes by the beach, so you can encounter a huge variety of migratory fish. It's the ideal spot to really experience the thrill of snorkeling.
Posted photos Hirizo Beach used to be called "Hiiridohama", because there was a temple on the shore that the sun would shine into.
