Ryugu Sea Cave | Japan Highlights Travel, for sightseeing around Tokaido

Atami Station

[Ryugu Sea Cave]

This unique heart-shaped cave has created a buzz

Formed by wave erosion, the Ryugu Sea Cave has a skylight some 50 meters in diameter where the roof has caved in. The sunlight streaming magically into the cave, the crystal-clear water, the many-layered walls of lapilli formed over vast stretches of time—it truly is a dreamlike sight inside the cave. There has also been a buzz around the cave in recent years because of its heart-like shape, which is formed by the eroded walls. Visitors can glimpse the unique shape from a walking trail. Nowadays, the cave is visited by many people as a "heart spot". How about taking some time to really immerse yourself in the power of mother nature?
