Kiunkaku | Japan Highlights Travel, for sightseeing around Tokaido

Atami Station

Atami's noted historical villa, each room of which was built with luxurious detail in different architecture styles

Built in 1919 as a holiday retreat, Kiunkaku opened as a ryokan in 1947 and thrived with many guests. Atami City obtained ownership of the villa in 2000, upon which it was opened to the public. With this historical villa's variety of spaces, including rooms designed in the art deco style and spacious tatami rooms, you can sense the skills of craftsmen and the architectural beauty born out of a fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics. The estate has vast green premises, where you can enjoy a walk in the Japanese-style garden.
