Established with the collection of the founder Okada Mokichi. The museum mainly features Oriental art works of Japan and China such as paintings, works of calligraphy, crafts and sculptures. The collection boasts 3,500 items, 66 important cultural properties and 3 national treasures such as Ogata Korin's "Red and White Plum Screens" and Hideyoshi's famous, "Golden Tea Room". As an added bonus, the fabulous view of rich natural surroundings can be enjoyed from the main lobby. The museum re-oped in 2017 after renovations. The exhibition hall has been completely renewed. Various changes have been made to bring out the full beauty of the artworks, including interior design utilizing tatami and Japanese traditional materials, such as Yakusugi cedar and black stucco. New display glass also allows artworks to be seen in clearer detail.
