A 360-degree aerial walk around the rooftop of a skyscraper in the center of Osaka

A circular observation floor and rooftop corridors, located at the top of Umeda Sky Building. As the name "Floating Garden" indicates, this is a stunning vantage point from which visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view while taking a walk in mid-air. The view varies from place to place, and the different impressions are one of the Garden's points of attraction. For example, the cityscape of central Osaka bristling with skyscrapers can be seen on the south and east sides, and the mountains of Hokusetsu, Mt. Rokko and other natural scenery can be seen to the north and west. The view in the evening is particularly beautiful, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Most Beautiful Sunsets. Visitors will be overwhelmed by the way the city of Osaka is dramatically colored by the sunset.

※ Views like the one shown in the photo can only be seen under certain conditions (time of day, weather etc.).

Travel advice

The Floating Garden consists of 3 floors: the 39th floor with its shops and restaurants, the 40th floor, which is the top floor of the building, and the rooftop. Visitors will be able to see as far as Awaji Island and Akashi Kaikyo Bridge on a clear day, but please be aware that the rooftop is occasionally closed due to bad weather. Special displays such as illuminations and water sprays are occasionally held to coincide with other events.

The pleasure of travel: Umeda Sky Building

To enjoy sightseeing in Osaka, first change to the JR Tokaido Line at Shin-Osaka Station and go to Osaka Station. Umeda Sky Building, approximately 7 minutes' walk from the station, is the main building of Shin Umeda City, a complex where visitors can enjoy eating, shopping and entertainment. A well-established rail network offers easy access to all points from Osaka station. Osakajokoen Station is convenient for Osaka Castle, and Shin-Imamiya is the station for Tsutenkaku. Be sure to taste kushikatsu at Ganso Kushikatu Daruma, near Tsutenkaku. Comparing the tastes of various takoyaki at the Osaka Takoyaki Museum is also highly recommended.
