[Toka Ebisu (Imamiya Ebisu Shrine)]

The first festival of the year sees crowds of pious men and women seeking to be blessed with happiness

At the Imamiya Ebisu Shrine, worshiped for its deity who safeguards the businesses in Osaka, an annual festival is held at the beginning of the new year. For 3 days and 3 nights, as festival music plays around the precincts shouting, "Bring us a bamboo branch for business prosperity", bamboo branches are distributed. The place is packed with people who want a shrine maiden to tie a lucky charm on their branch. In addition to the "Ebisu Stage" that pops up on Ebisu Bridge, which remains as busy with worshipers as it always has been, events such as the Good Luck Palanquin Parade where shrine maidens and celebrities board colorful palanquins and march around the town add further excitement to the festival.
