The third-oldest zoo in Japan that was opened in 1915

The zoo celebrates its 100th anniversary on January 1st, 2015. Visitors can meet a wide range of animals including everyone's favorite, elephants, lions and koalas. Brief lectures by zookeepers and events such as "snack and meal time", where animals during meal time can be observed, are held to deepen the understanding of animals. The vast Tennoji Park including the zoo is a recreation place for the citizens.

Access (to Tennoji Gate): Take the Osaka City Subway Midosuji Line from "Shin-Osaka Station" of JR Tokaido Shinkansen for approx. 21 minutes. Alight at "Tennoji Station" and walk for approx. 5 minutes.
(to Shinsekai Gate): Take the Osaka City Subway Midosuji Line to from "Shin-Osaka Station" of JR Tokaido Shinkansen for approx. 20 minutes. Alight at "Dobutsuenmae Station" and walk for approx. 5 minutes.
