Goshintai, the object of worship believed to contain the spirit of deity, is Mt. Fuji. Put your hands together to the calm and grand appearance of Mt. Fuji

Many of the components of the World Heritage Site Fujisan are related to ancient Mt. Fuji worship. One of them is the "Yamamiya Sengen Shrine", which is the predecessor shrine of "Fujisan Hongu Sengentaisha". The shrine has no main hall and there is only a space to worship Mt. Fuji as a goshintai. This is a precious heritage site which preserves the ancient ritual style. "Murayama Sengen Shrine" was established in the late Kamakura period and flourished as the center of ascetic practices. In the precincts, there are several Sengen Shrine and Dainichido which remind one of the syncretization of Shinto with Buddhism. It was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
