Enjoy the Hikone Castle national treasure through various experiences and tours

Hikone Castle has one of the 12 castle towers which are said to have been built in or before the Edo period and which still exist in Japan. This castle is designated as a national treasure and maintains its beautiful appearance even today which underwent five renovations since its construction in 1622. It has many attractions such as the tenbin-yagura (tower), the taikomon-yagura (tower), the feudal lord's garden, Genkyuen, as well as the castle tower. The popular character "Hikonyan" appears everyday in the castle area. The Hikone Castle Museum at the Hikone Castle entrance, and the houseboat excursion around the moat (journey time 50 minutes) will enhance your experience at Hikone Castle.
