Sumata Gorge | Japan Highlights Travel, for sightseeing around Tokaido

Kakegawa Station

[Sumata Gorge]

Enjoy mountain views, mountain air and hot spring water which can make you more beautiful

Sumata Gorge is located in a mountainous area which is full of nature in the foothills of the Southern Alps. There is a thrilling "Dream Suspension Bridge" which is 90 meters long and 8 meters high and affords outstanding views of the beautiful Sumata River valley. The sight of new leaves and autumn foliage seen beyond the bridge is like something out of a picture. If you try the "Promenade Course", an approximately 90-minute hiking course, you will be able to enjoy not only the scenery but also the fragrance of the forest. Another Sumata Gorge highlight is the "Bijozukuri no Yu" hot spring, after a soak in which your skin will feel lovely and smooth. (By the way, the hot spring's name roughly means "waters which make women into beauties".)
