[Lord Tomoyasu's Birth Well]

A legendary well where people say the founding member of the Ii family was born

The Ii family dominated the Totomi province and Iinoya, and served as retainers for the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period. This large well made of stones is said to be the place where the founding member of the Ii family, Tomoyasu, was born. Places where water springs out have been worshiped as sacred places since ancient times, so this well has been protected as the place from where the Ii family originated. The well curb flag emblem derived from this well. In front of the well is Ryotan-ji Temple, the Ii family temple, and the grave of Naotora, who became the chatelaine in order to save the Ii family from being destroyed.
