Hamamatsu Station

[Unagi Fujita]

Kabayaki at a long-established restaurant, prepared using a secret sauce which has been handed down for more than 50 years

A long-standing unagi (eel) restaurant established in 1892. Owing to its great location, this famous restaurant welcomes many tourists and business trippers, besides of course being very popular with the locals. To cook it so it's crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the unagi is sliced down its back, steamed, and then grilled using high-grade charcoal. The secret sauce, which has been used at the restaurant for more than 50 years, attracts many fans. The original sauce has been topped up little by little so as never to run out, so in all that time the flavor has just got richer and richer.
