[Hongaku-ji Temple]

A dragon flying across the ceiling with a stare for every corner

This Soto-sect Buddhist temple is famous for its painted ceiling, "Unryu-no-etenjo". The dragon in the painting stares back at you no matter where you look at it from. The temple is also famous for beautiful peonies, and many people visit from mid to end of April, when the flowers are in bloom. Visitors can try religious meditation, transcribing a sutra and more.
