[Atami Japanese Apricot Garden]
White, red, crimson, pink... 472 ume (plum) trees proudly blossom in Japan's best early flowering ume garden
This famous early flowering ume garden is said to be the best in Japan. Every year the trees flower in order, beginning with the first blossoms from the end of November to the beginning of December, then the rest of the early bloomers, then the middle bloomers and finally the late bloomers, which means visitors can enjoy the spectacle of ume blossoms longer here than anywhere else. Furthermore, visitors can expect to see a wide range of ume trees, including trees with white blossoms, trees with red blossoms, trees whose blossoms are a mixture of colors, trees with white blossoms that look green, and even rare specimens such as trees which put out four different kinds of blossoms at the same time, for example red ones, white ones and mixed ones. 472 ume trees, all proudly in blossom. 59 of them are over a hundred years old.
