Travel advice

The double-diamond Fuji cannot be seen unless various conditions are met. It can be seen at Lake Tanuki, twice a year early in the morning around April 20th and August 20th. The avenue in front of Kyukamura Fuji is known for being a great viewing spot. The place is crowded with people from all over the country by 5 a.m., so an early visit is recommended.

The pleasure of travel: Lake Tanuki

The most convenient way to get to the Lake Tanuki Mt. Fuji viewing spot is to go to Fujinomiya Station from Shin-Fuji Station and then take the bus. There are many accommodations, camping facilities, rest houses and so on around Lake Tanuki, and the area is full of places where you can enjoy close contact with nature. The cycling road that goes around the lake is also popular. Shiraito Falls, registered as a World Heritage Site, is located in between Lake Tanuki and Fujinomiya Station and is also a must-see. Close to the starting point of the journey, Shin-Fuji Station, there is a restaurant that serves a local gourmet specialty, "tsuke Napolitan" (literally "dipping Neapolitan").
